Welcome back to the How do you stay fit series, today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy (that’s me).
Tell us a little about yourself and your lifestyle
I’m a homechool mom to three kids (ages 3,8,11). We stay home a lot, but that doesn’t mean we are not busy! Most days I hardly sit down.
My husband is a preacher and we spend a good amount of time a church events.
I’m also a blogger, so I spend a good amount of time writing (which is when I actually sit down).
How do you “find” (or create) the time for exercise?
There are times when this is difficult. Right now is one of them! I am exercising at odd times, morning, mid-morning, afternoon, or evening. And sometimes not at all (depending on the day).
I was so frustrated with my workout situation a while back that I asked my husband to help me. (It wasn’t just exercise, it was actually life in general. I was overwhelmed!) He now teaches the kids their math lessons in the morning and I exercise. I still have a three year old with me, but I’ll take what I can get!
What time of day do you prefer to workout (morning/afternoon/evening)?
My body feels best around mid-morning. I love to exercise then. I find it hard to do it sometimes when I have to keep stopping to tend to a three year old.
Early morning is also a preferred time. My body doesn’t feel as strong then, but getting my exercise out of the way before the day begins always makes me feel good.
What is your favorite workout?
I love lifting weights and I think I enjoy that most. But, I do also enjoy Turbo Fire. I almost always have a smile on my face when doing that workout. I get bored easily, so I change things up regularly.
What are your current fitness goals?
To gain strength.
Favorite healthy (family) meal?
Frittata! It’s full of protein and veggies. Plus, my daughter can make it for us!
Favorite treat meal or guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. That’s such a girly thing to say, but it’s true, I love my chocolate.
Do you pamper/reward yourself for achieving a health and fitness milestone? If so, how?
I might go and buy a new outfit or workout DVD!
If you could tell moms who want to get fit one thing, what would it be?
Just keep going. There are so many times when we want to give up because it’s just so difficult to create the time and space to exercise and prepare good food. But it’s important!
Also, let go of the all-or-nothing mentality. If something interferes with your workout, don’t blow off exercising completely, do something. A few push ups with your hands on the kitchen counter while you make dinner are better than nothing. Look for ways to be active throughout the day.
Do you have a blog or website?
I blog at ADelightfulHome.com and here at RealFitMoms.com
Great tips and what an encouragement Stacy, thanks for sharing a little insight and inspiration from your busy, busy life 🙂
