Welcome back to the How do you stay fit series, today we’d like to introduce you to Karla
Meet Karla c.
Tell us a little about yourself and your lifestyle
I have 3 kids ages 6, 3 and 7 months. I’m an accountant and I work part time from home.
During the day I’m busy driving the kids to and from school and activities, cooking and “trying” to keep the house clean. At night I’m folding endless amounts of clothes while watching my shows and crunching numbers afterwards.
How do you “find” (or create) the time for exercise?
I joined a Facebook group and participated in a 21 day move challenge. Being accountable forced me to do something everyday. I scheduled my workouts and followed a loose workout rotation.
To find the time, I would workout out after my kids went to bed, on Saturday mornings or when the older kids were at school. I stopped waiting for the “right” time and just did it. Even if it meant my youngest was crawling all over me while I was doing chest presses!
What time of day do you prefer to workout (morning/afternoon/evening)?
I prefer to workout first thing in the morning. It’s such a great feeling to just have it done and over with! But lately, it’s been at night. I’m lucky to have a husband that will hold the baby so that I can finish my workout.
What is your favorite workout?
I love strength training especially kettlebells and Body Pump classes. I love being strong and being able to still lift my kids and throw them around (even the 65lb one!)
Do you have any health or fitness achievements to share?
I was proud to be active all through my last pregnancy. I did a weight lifting class at the gym 2 days before I gave birth and was still lifting heavier weights than other people in class!
Currently I’m pretty proud of doing the 21 day challenge (only 3 days left!). It’s so easy to put off exercising and I have to really push myself to workout instead of just watching tv!
What are your current fitness goals?
I want to be able to do at least 1 pullup and chinup and to be able to do pushups on my toes. I’m still deciding what workout rotation I’ll be doing to reach this goal. I’m leaning towards Peakfit or P90X.
Favorite healthy (family) meal?
Salmon with kale and avocado!
Favorite treat meal or guilty pleasure?
Starbucks caramel machiattos and hot milk teas. I need to quit sugar!
Do you pamper/reward yourself for achieving a health and fitness milestone? If so, how?
Not really….maybe I’ll start!
If you could tell moms who want to get fit one thing, what would it be?
Stop complaining and just do it.

Thanks for sharing with us, Karla. I love your enthusiasm for health and fitness. My favorite part of this interview was when you said, you stopped waiting for the “right” time and just did it. That’s so smart! The right time hardly ever comes!
