How do you stay fit? Meet Emma: Personal trainer and mom to a busy toddler

Last week we announced our new series: How do you stay fit? We are so excited at the response from you and are looking forward to sharing what we’ve learned.

Today we have the opportunity to take a look into the life of our very own Emma, the co-owner of Real Fit Moms. Emma a personal trainer and mom to a busy toddler. Read her interview below to find out how she stays fit and healthy.

Tell us a little about yourself and your lifestyle

Stay at home mama to one very active little lady, 3 1/2 years old.

Certified personal trainer, passionate about all things related to health and fitness. Love to lift the heavy weights with some HIIT intervals thrown in for good measure.

When I’m not busy running around after/with my little lady you will most likely find me in our kitchen . . . baking up a storm.

How do you “find” (or create) the time for exercise?

I prefer to workout first thing in the morning, while the rest of the family is still tucked up nice and cozy in their beds. That way I know I won’t be distracted. Oh, and getting it over and done with first thing leaves me feeling more energized and clear of mind, ready to tackle the day ahead.

If I don’t get my workout in before the family wakes up, its nap/rest time. No if, but, or maybe about it. It needs to be done. It’s what helps to keep me sane.

What time of day do you prefer to workout (morning/afternoon/evening)?

First thing in the morning ๐Ÿ™‚

What is your favorite workout?

Love, love, love the heavy weights! And HIIT workouts. DVD’s Chalean Extreme and Turbofire are my all times faves, total soul mate workouts right there.

What are your current fitness goals?

After a very stressful year (or 2) I unintentionally lost a significant (read: unhealthy) amount of weight. My goal this year is to get myself back to a healthier weight, fit, healthy and strong.

This year I hope to do my first ever 5K.

Favorite healthy (family) meal?

Currently obsessed with fajita grilled chicken salad and home made oven baked seasoned sweet potato fries! YUM!

Favorite treat meal or guilty pleasure?

Stauffers animal crackers (original or chocolate) dipped in a little cool whip . . . I know it’s not even a real food . . . please don’t think less of me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do you pamper/reward yourself for achieving a health and fitness milestone? If so, how?

Pedicure!!!!!!! Or a trip to the hairdresser ๐Ÿ™‚

If you could tell moms who want to get fit one thing, what would it be?

Do not give up, consistency is key. Don’t try to be anyone or anything yourself. Break it down into small, achievable goals and get yourself a buddy for accountability.

You can do it!
